List generic energy or water outage events, natural hazards, and/or threats that may cause outages of the primary energy and/or water supplies at your site. For each hazard, select the supply type(s) that the hazard could impact, estimate how long the supply type(s) will be unavailable, and estimate the frequency with which the hazard is expected to occur. For each hazard, identify whether it has the potential to damage on-site equipment (i.e., critical assets or redundant systems). Click “Select Potential Hazard” to view anticipated frequencies of natural hazards in your plant’s county. If they lack the potential to damage on-site equipment, hazards leading to the same duration of disruption may be grouped together into generic, supply-specific disruptions, while choosing a frequency closest to the sum of the individual frequencies.
This table shows the anticipated annual frequencies of natural hazards that could impact your site, based on its location. To include a specific hazard in your site’s assessment, click “Add Hazard” and complete the required data entry.
Hazard frequency data in this table are based on FEMA’s National Risk Index (NRI). Users should be aware that:
- To the degree that more detailed or relevant local data are available, they can and should be used.
- The table may not include all potential hazards relevant to your area. As an example, rain-driven (pluvial) flooding is not included as a hazard in the NRI.
