Develop a list of key processes that must be operational to produce each key product at your site. Ensure that each key process has a unique name. Indicate a weighting factor that helps to establish each process’s relative criticality or importance.

Key Process
A key process is a specific step or other part of a manufacturing process (e.g., mold making, metal casting, finishing) necessary to produce a key product.
Weighting Factor
Integer weight of the key process’s importance to the plant. Default is 1; higher values indicate that the key process is more important. Apply the same weight for key processes with similar importance. A potential method to select weights could be assigning the dollar value associated with each hour of disruption as the weight for that key process, which would cause weighted risk (a main STIR output) to represent the financial cost of a disruption.
Tier
Criticality tier of the key process. Automatically set by the weighting factor specification. Tier 1 will have the most important key process(es).
